There was a rare performance from two Organ-Playing Elves at the Carol Extravaganza at St. John’s, Hartley Wintney. Resident Elf, Martin Barnes, had the audience singing heartily with a verse or two of the many excellent carols at this jolly event. He sprinkled the proceedings with a few ex-cracker jokes and some tinselly stories about how carols have developed over the years. When he described the various stories associated with “I Saw Three Ships”, Geoff Willis and Rob Goldfinch, appropriately dressed in Elf hats and Christmas jumpers, dashed to the console to play that carol in a duet rearrangement of the already spectacular solo version by Richard Elliott.
